Growing labour hire and recruitment company Australia Personnel Global (APGlobal) together with APG Mining & Engineering has today opened an office in Gladstone following an increase in the number of jobs and opportunities available in the growing resources sector for skilled, semi skilled and professional staff.

Partnering a local office with access to the national resources of APGlobal is an ideal situation.”

One such project is Queensland Curtis LNG a major investment in Queensland's coal seam gas industry that involves transporting coal seam gas via a 340km pipeline to Gladstone, where it will be turned into liquefied natural gas at a plant on Curtis Island. Queensland Curtis LNG will be one of Australia’s largest capital infrastructure projects and generate significant economic benefits for Australia, particularly Queensland.

“The local economy in Gladstone and the central Queensland region is extremely positive. A major industrial cluster, where economic competitiveness is balanced with steadily improving environmental performance, the Gladstone Region’s strong industrial growth is set to continue and drive the region’s sustainable growth.”

Redman cites the knowledge and experience of the Gladstone staff as the greatest strength to the new office. “Having a local office staffed by locals who know the resources and mining industry in the region will benefit our clients immensely. With our established relationships and local knowledge we can attract the calibre of candidates required to drive the local region forward.”

Indigenous Employment in Gladstone
Recent consultation with Gladstone's Indigenous community has resulted in APG Mining & Engineering developing an Indigenous Recruitment Plan for the region to ensure that Indigenous workers are well represented within the mining sector and are given opportunities to take advantage of the impeding boom in the area.

“Our partnership with a Registered Training Organisation means that we are in the enviable position to be able to provide ongoing training and give Indigenous workers real skills to advance within their careers and to move outside the mining sector if desired to maintain sustainable employment in other fields,” concluded Redman.

What does the National Broadband Network mean for your business?

Mon, 23 Aug 2010 15:26:36 +1000

The National Broadband Network is an Australian Government initiative and represents the largest ever infrastructure project undertaken in this country.

The National Broadband Network will involve the laying of fibre optic cabling to at least 90 per cent of Australian homes, schools and businesses, capable of delivering speeds of 100 megabits per second, or up to 100 times faster than many people experience today at a total cost estimated between $10 billion and $15 billion.

What are the benefits to your business?

The National Broadband Network will improve Australia's productivity and economic prosperity, improve service delivery in the critical areas of education and health and ensure the connectedness of our regions.

High speed broadband networks are purpose built for the digital age of the 21st century. They deliver faster download and upload data speeds, transform the online world into a visual medium, enable real time collaboration; and importantly, enable everyone in the house or workplace to use a range of high speed services simultaneously.

Boosting the economy and creating new jobs

Super fast broadband will save businesses time and money and increase productivity. With fast and affordable broadband, a company's location will no longer matter. Firms can be in contact with customers and suppliers from around the world and businesses can be run from home. Training can be delivered to staff no matter where they are located.

Connecting communities

The new network will level the playing field for businesses that are currently badly serviced, not just in regional areas, but in the so-called black spots in metropolitan areas that cannot receive high-speed connections.Through online and high definition video conferencing the National Broadband Network will help overcome the isolation some Australians experience and ensure we are all closer to family, friends and community.
